""In April 2005, the Great Lakes Capital Fund announced its intention to offer its services to Wisconsin-area developers of multifamily affordable housing projects using the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit program. For the previous 11 years, Great Lakes had had great success in creating regional equity funds in Michigan and Indiana to make equity investments in multifamily developments that meet the need for high quality, affordably priced housing. Expanding into Wisconsin seemed to be the next logical step..

Great Lakes worked closely with the Partnership as it established an office and a service team in Wisconsin. The Partnership, working under contract to Great Lakes, took the lead in organizing a Wisconsin-based equity fund that will remain under the umbrella of the Great Lakes Capital Fund. The Partnership’s tasks included introductions to and contacts with Wisconsin developers, relations with Wisconsin investors, and capacity building for Wisconsin nonprofit housing organizations.
