What Is a CHDO Anyway?CHDOs (or Community Housing Development Organizations) are private, community-based nonprofit organizations whose purposes include the provision of decent, affordable housing to low-income people. A certain portion of federal HOME funding is set aside for housing developed, sponsored or owned by CHDOs. As a nonprofit intermediary organization, the Wisconsin Partnership has a contract with HUD through which we offer technical assistance to CHDOs. We hope these pages of our web site will give CHDOs an opportunity to become acquainted and share ideas and information about their housing development projects.
