Advocacy

The Partnership helps raise awareness of the affordable housing shortage, putting a face on housing need and demonstrating to Wisconsin residents and government officials that the continuing lack of affordable housing affects all of us.

Advocacy means more than trying to increase the amount of money available to build affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods. To the Partnership, housing advocacy means changing the way people think about housing and neighborhoods and building strong coalitions to develop more effective policy and programs.

All of our advocacy efforts carry the message that better, more affordable housing and stronger neighborhoods benefit everyone. To increase affordable housing options and build stronger neighborhood, the whole community needs to share the responsibility.

Advocacy Listserv

The Partnership’s advocacy listserv allows us to communicate with an informal network of people from Wisconsin and other states who are interested in affordable housing issues. Periodic messages inform members of the network about current housing issues and possible legislative proposals. Some messages relay information received by the Partnership from national or local organizations, while others circulate information generated by the Partnership itself.

Anyone interested in affordable housing issues is welcome to join the Partnership’s listserv. To do so, contact Heather Boggs in the Madison office (608-258-5560 x32 or heatherboggs@wphd.org).
