Our First 14 Years
The Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development 1985-1998
Released in October 1999, this report summarizes our beginnings and our accomplishments through 1998. Here are some highlights:
Building People Power: Technical Assistance to Community-Based Organizations
- Contracts with HUD for more than $2.2 million to build the development capacity of local housing development organizations
Raising the Roof: Housing Development and Consulting
- Full-service consultant on development projects comprising almost 300 homes or apartments
- Designed and developed the first 'green' affordable housing project in the country
Opening Doors: Housing Options for People with Disabilities
- Designed Wisconsin Supported Housing Partnership program, recognized as an example of a statewide effort to increase home ownership under President Clinton's National Homeownership Strategy
- In a joint venture with Movin' Out of Madison, developing a 23-unit condominium project with six units intended for very low income people with disabilities
Putting the Pieces Together: New Local Housing and Neighborhood Partnerships
- Designed comprehensive housing strategies in urban neighborhoods, cities and metropolitan areas in Wisconsin and other states
- List of partners to date includes 88 local nonprofit organizations, 49 private corporations and foundations, and many others
Making the Numbers Work: Financing Program Design and Management
- Secured over $45 million to capitalize 6 financing programs
- Financed projects with almost 2000 homes and apartments across Wisconsin that represent an investment of over $50 million in private and public funds
Working for a Living: Solid Financial Position
- Total operating income in excess of $8.3 million over 14 years, less than 10% in the form of grants
